N24 CARRICK ON SUIR BYPASS ROAD IMPROVEMENT SCHEME
The project involves the delivery of a high class dual carriageway between the N24 2+1 pilot scheme east of Carrick On Suir as far as the N76 National Secondary Route north of Kilheffernan Roundabout where it will tie in to the proposed N24 Clonmel Bypass. It comprises 16.5 kilometres of dual carriageway with 4 kilometres of realigned local roads and 4 kilometres of new link road. A number of significant structures include two river crossings over the Glen and Linguan Rivers. There are also 10 no. road under and over bridges along the route. Work has been completed on the Project Appraisal, Constraints Study and Route Options Report. In parallel with the constraints and route selection process, O’Connor Sutton Cronin undertook a major Traffic Modelling Report and Cost Benefit Analysis for the scheme. The Traffic Model was prepared using VISSUM macrosimulation software based on a detailed Origin and Destination Study which was carried out early in the project. The next stage in the project is to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Emerging Preferred Route.
