BRIGDES AND RAIL

The bridge and rail section of O’Connor Sutton Cronin celebrated the completion of construction of two significant bridge projects in 2008.

The opening of the new bridge over the N3 at the Navan Road provides access to the new Phoenix Park Railway Station and facilitates the further development of the existing Phoenix Park Racecourse site by Flynn & O'Flaherty. The integral two-span reinforced and pre-cast concrete bridge was designed to be lit up at night to enhance its appearance.

The new bridge over the River Tolka providing a new access to James onnolly Memorial Hospital was completed and will form part of the improved N3 – M50 junction.

The bridge was designed to minimise its impact on the environmentally important Tolka Valley.

Construction work will continue in 2009 on the new linkspan bridge at Rosslare Harbour for Iarnród Eireann. O'Connor Sutton Cronin organised the tendering for this project to the new Government Contracts and will supervise its construction on site.

The section has assisted a number of clients in understanding the implications of the Metro North Railway Order on their business and premises. Our rail and bridge expertise is combined in our study of the Metro West crossing of the N4 and Fonthill junction in West Dublin.

Our team will complete the designs of a number of bridge and underpasses associated with our major road projects. We have developed an expertise in making submissions to Iarnród Eireann complying with their Third Party regulations I-Dep-120. This work will continue in 2009 for a number of projects that interface with the railway.

The section is excited at the opportunity to support our regional and international offices in multi-disciplinary and infrastructural projects.
