Tyrrelstown to N2 (Cherryhound Interchange)
The project involves the construction of a new road scheme connecting the R121 at Tyrrelstown to the N2 at the Cherryhound Interchange.
The project consisted of the design of approximately 4.5 kilometres of new dual-carriageway
incorporating a central median, two 8-metre wide carriageways, grass margins, footpaths, cycle tracks, 3 kilometres of
600mm ductile iron water main and 3 kilometres of 300mm ductile iron water main. Incorporated in the design is 3.5km foul
drainage network consisting of spigot and socket pipe work at depths over 7 metres along with 8.1 km of surface water
drainage including in excess of 200 manholes, petrol interceptors, headwalls, gabions and 6 attenuation tanks ranging in
size from 300m2 to 600m2. Amidst this dense network of drainage pipes there lies 2 km of foul rising main with two pump
station.
Part of the works will incorporate the widening and realigning of existing roads. The new dual-carriageway will tie in to the existing network at 13 separate locations all of which require traffic calming facilities with an independent road safety audit also to take place.
O’Connor Sutton Cronin will solely undertake the complete design, supervision and management of the project from inception to completion.
