Waterford Institute of Technology - School of Nursing
O'Connor Sutton Cronin were appointed as Civil/Consulting Engineers on the new School of Nursing located within the main Waterford Institute of Technology Campus on the Cork Road.
The building is a three storey building over basement. It is composed of an insitu reinforced concrete frame with precast or insitu concrete floors constructed around a central atrium. A large steel trussed roof encloses the atrium and is supported on steel columns. Due to ground conditions piled foundations were necessary.
Intensive gas protection measures were incorporated into the building design to protect against ground based gas intrusion.
