Moran Hotel, 626 Chiswick High Road, London

OCSC were engaged by Seagal Trading Ltd up to tender stage and were then novated by Ardmore Construction for the construction stage of this development.

626 Chiswick High Road was an 8 Storey 1970’s office building with a single storey car park at the rear of the site. The existing building consisted of RC Columns and masonry walls supporting clay hollow pot floors on RC Beams. The project involved the refurbishment of the existing building for hotel use, extending the car park podium slab and constructing a new 3 storey extension to the rear of the site.

A new 7 storey steel frame was erected on the front elevation to support an extended floor plate and new cladding. Connections between the new and existing structures were detailed so as to accommodate differential movement between the new and existing buildings. OCSC supervised specialist surveys carried out to examine the condition of the existing structure and OCSC provided detailed calculations to satisfy building control that the building was fit for its intended use.

The 3 storey extension consists of mini-piled foundations supporting an RC frame and RC slabs. A soakaway was constructed to accommodate the additional surface water runoff from the site and avoided the requirement for attenuation tanks.

OCSC are currently looking at a £20m hotel extension to this building for Seagal Trading Ltd.
