Irish Times Printing Press
The press hall is a 20m high space with the press table independently supported at ground floor level. The press table is structurally isolated from the remainder of the buildings as vibration of the printing press when producing at full capacity of 80,000 copies an hour has to be isolated from the remaining structure to ensure that vibration is not transmitted.
In addition to the requirements to isolate the press table from the remaining building to prevent vibration of the press reaching the remaining building there was a requirement to ensure that the printing press was isolated from the ground to prevent transfer of any ground borne vibrations into the printing press.
