P&O Warehouse, Dublin Port

The P&O Warehouse at Dublin Port is constructed on a landfill site and occupies a footprint of 130m x 75m with ancillary offices to one side. The structure is a steel portal frame with 12.2m to eaves, 2 spans of 37.5m (with a grid jumper every second bay) supported on precast concrete driven piles.

The floor slab of the warehouse (a Category 1 floor to TR 34) is designed to accommodate an imposed load of 50kN/m2 and is also supported on piled foundations. One complete elevation of the warehouse is designed as a fire boundary wall and as such the structure is designed to withstand large overturning forces. The complete footprint of the building is covered with a gas membrane, with gasses allowed to vent passively to the atmosphere.
