O’Connor Sutton Cronin achieve BIM LEVEL 2 Verification

O’Connor Sutton Cronin is delighted to advise all of our clients that we have achieved BIM Level 2 verification with BSI, the business standards company.  This demonstrates the capability of O’Connor Sutton Cronin to the highest level of the BIM verification scheme for PAS 1192-2 Information Management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects as a Tier 1 Consultant. The BSI BIM verification scheme has been developed in order for designers and contractors and their supply chain to provide evidence that they have the capability to deliver projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM). To achieve verification of BIM capability from BSI, designer / contractor organisations have to demonstrate that they adhere to the requirements of the PAS 1192-2 standard through an independent assessment by BSI.  This is determined through an onsite audit which assesses the documented procedures for all processes in PAS 1192-2, the competency of staff, and a documented complaints procedure. Greater requirements are specified for Tier 1 contractors/consultants and their supply chains which O’Connor Sutton Cronin were successful in achieving.

Simon Dunne, Associate with OCSC and responsible for the implementation of BIM and Digital Built Environment procedures said: “We are very pleased to have received verification to PAS 1192-2 with BSI.  In the past five years we have seen a significant shift in the industry towards  greater adoption of BIM on construction projects.  Achieving BIM level 2 verification builds on our extensive experience working on projects in BIM and allows us to demonstrate to our clients and supply chain partners that we have the capability to deliver projects as a Tier 1 consultant.”

BIM adoption is increasingly considered to be fundamental to the successful delivery of construction projects since it provides a common, single and coordinated source of structured information throughout the lifecycle of a project and can deliver significant cost savings and efficiencies both during the design/construction and handover stages.  More and more public procurement bodies and private developers are adopting BIM on their projects due to the benefits at both the construction and operation cycle.

OCSC PAS 1192 accreditation to Level 2 Tier 1 is another example of OCS’s continuing drive to be a leading International Multidisciplinary Consulting Engineering Practice and provides ongoing assurance to our clients of our unrelenting attention to continuous improvement.

Organisations who successfully complete the BSI BIM verification process receive a certificate and are entitled to use the BSI BIM verification logo shown below on their company literature.
