The Ballyfermot Primary Care Centre, located on the Cherry Orchard Hospital campus offers a range of services such as G.P. services, physiotherapy, community nursing, dental, addiction and community welfare in one building with crèche services located in a separate building. The buildings are located on a 1.4hA brownfield site and required the demolition of 2 no. existing buildings before construction commenced.
The structure chosen for the three storey primary care centre was a reinforced concrete frame with reinforced concrete flat slabs and columns supported by pad footings. This structure suited the layout, function and height of the building and gives flexibility for future alteration and extension.
The single storey crèche building comprises structural steel or load bearing masonry supporting a lightweight metal deck roof.
The project has recently won the Green Good Design International Award.
