O’Connor Sutton Cronin were appointed by the HSE as Consulting Civil/Structural Engineers for a new Primary Care and Health Centre at Inchicore, Dublin 8. This building development involved the complex integration of this new facility into an already established campus of Listed Buildings owned by Dublin City Council.
The new development is located on a shared site with a HSE Community Nursing Unit and numerous Dublin City Council Listed Buildings to the front.
The project involved the design of a 2 storey building over basement car park, providing the following health Services and Accommodation including inter alia Primary Care/GP Facilities/Mental Health/Addiction Services/Dental Health/Community Nursing and Social Work Facilities.
The Structure comprises RC Basement car park with RC columns supporting an in-situ concrete flat slab to Ground, First and Roof. A glazed courtyard area allows light into the “heart” of the building. Sensitive temporary works were incorporated to form the basement construction along the rear of the listed buildings.
One of the existing protected structures to the front of the site was restored and refurbished to incorporate the main entrance with a new 2 storey glazed link back to the main development.
OCSC were also retained and responsible for the Masterplanning of the site including Roads, Drainage and Watermain services.
