This is a new c.1000m2 Primary Care Centre (PCC) on an existing brown field site at Irishtown, in the centre of Dublin.
The structure is a three storey RC frame of column and flat slab construction with a central atrium and rooflight allowing natural daylight to spill into the centre of the building. The building is supported on bored piles and has a suspended ground floor slab. The Geotechnical site investigation determined the potential for ground contamination. Consequently, the building was protected with a gas proof membrane, together with a passive gas ventilation solution below the suspended ground floor slab including a “real time” gas monitoring/alarm system.
OCSC were also retained by the HSE for the development of a similar PCC at Mark’s Lane, Pearse Street which was also completed late 2008.
