M3 River Tolka Bridge

The design of the James Connolly Hospital campus incorporated a new highly visible easy access across the Tolka River. OCSC were appointed to design this new 66m two-span bridge, sympathetically designed to blend in with the surrounding Tolka Valley. The bridge deck is two lanes wide with footpaths on either side and comprises prestressed pre-cast bridge beams integral with the central pier. Access is provided off the N3 and spans the Tolka River before joining the internal road network at the Hospital. The scheme required liaison with the National Roads Authority for the future upgrading of the adjoining M50 Interchange.

OCSC took the scheme from preliminary design and planning through detailed design, construction monitoring and site supervision.
