The project comprises the widening of approximately 4.5 kilometres of the M1 motorway north of Dublin. The existing motorway is being widened from two to three lanes on each side by removing the central median and replacing same with a new concrete barrier. The work is taking place in a live traffic environment on a road which carries in excess of 100,000 vehicles per day. Construction commenced in 2012 and is expected to be completed in spring 2013.
