OCSC were appointed in 2008 by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to undertake the design of the Wyattville to Glenageary QBC project. The scheme runs from the Wyattville Interchange on the old N11 north along Church Road, through the Graduate Roundabout, then north along Sallyglen Road to the Deer Hunter Roundabout. The scheme is approximately 5 kilometres in length and includes bus lanes, 7 kilometres of cycle track and pedestrian facilities.
The project critically includes the reconfiguration of two major urban roundabouts into fully signalised junctions to accommodate buses, pedestrians and cyclists. These new signalised junctions feature multiple traffic lanes on all approaches along with complex arrangements for turning traffic, buses, pedestrians and cyclists. OCSC undertook very significant liaison with the Transportation Department of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and with the Quality Bus Network Office in the design of the scheme.
The project included transportation modelling, accessibility audits, signalisation design and complex junction realignment design. The design of the scheme was completed and a Preliminary Design Report delivered to the Council in May 2010. OCSC continued to prepare an overall design of the R118 Church Road regional road and completed an EIS in respect of same. OCSC provided alignment and junction control design, signage and delineation, traffic modelling, environmental impact statement and public consultation services for the project.
