Royal & Grand Canal Cycle Routes – Vissim Junction Models

OCSC were appointed by Dublin City Council to prepare designs for premium cycle routes along the Royal (2.5 km) and Grand (5.2 km) canals through Dublin City Centre. In order to test the impact of the proposed cycle routes and junction treatments ion the capacity of the network it was necessary to prepare Vissim junction models, using SCATS information from the City Council, in order to monitor before and after junction capacity throughout each scheme.

OCSC undertook the microsimulation modelling of the area and imposed simulated peak hour arrival and departure rates on the road network in order to determine the impact of phased development on the road network and to provide and model increased network capacity.
