OCSC were appointed by Fingal County Council to undertake a needs study of the existing water infrastructure serving Balbriggan. Among the critical infrastructural improvements required was two new 6,000m3 potable water service reservoirs. OCSC designed the service reservoir in accordance with BS8110.The structure of the reservoir is cast in-situ concrete and the reservoir is partially buried. The reservoir curtilage design was carefully landscaped to fit in with both the existing rural environment and a planned future park which will wrap around the reservoir on three sides. The reservoir is designed to be fully automated where all of the operating valves are actuated and linked into a SCADA system for remote operation. The operator is also provided with live and logged information regarding flows into and out of the reservoir, the level of the water in the reservoir and the levels of chlorine being dosed at the reservoir along with a number of other parameters.
This scheme is currently on site and is being managed by an OCSC team of resident engineers in conjunction with the main contractor Jons Civil Engineering. The scheme is well advanced and expected to be complete in late 2012.
OCSC provided all civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services for the entirety of this project. OCSC are also the Project Supervisor Design Stage on this scheme.
