22-24 St Pancras Way is a 6-7 storey new build development consisting of 71 apartments over ground floor office accommodation. Durkan Ltd were employed by Genesis Housing Association as the Main Contractor to Design and Build this new development. This project is complete and consists of piled foundations supporting RC columns and walls which in turn will support 240mm RC flat slabs.
Significant structural alterations were required to the adjacent Canal Wall Structure at the rear of the site and meetings took place with British Waterways to agree the proposed method of construction. The canal wall foundations were strengthened and underpinned to facilitate the new building.
A petrol station previously occupied the site and contamination was present. A site investigation, contamination risk assessment and remediation strategy was undertaken to allow the safe removal of buried tanks containing petroleum. This ground remediation work completed to the satisfaction of the Environment Agency.
