Appointed by Astondale Developments OCSC undertook the Structural and Civil Design of this prestigious residential development of 50 units nestled in mature woodlands close to the N11 South of Bray in County Wicklow.
The scheme included access road, internal road and sustainable drainage design. The structures conprised 5 No. blocks of two storey duplex apartments over single storey own door access units. The structures consisted of prefabricated timbers truss roofs on precast concrete cross wall construction. The front and rear external facades being precast concrete, while the internal face was of air-tight insulated stud construction.
The second floors were constructed in timber, while the horizontal separation between different occupancies was achieve by precast hollowcore floor units with structural screed at first floor level.
Precast was the preferred structural solution, to ensure quality of finish and to ensure that the project could be constructed within a short programme.
OCSC worked in with the precast specialist to ensure that stability of the structures was achieved and that connections within the cavity were adequately specified and installed to ensure longevity.
OCSC provided all civil, structural, engineering services for the development from preplanning meetings with the planning authority through to compliance submissions, detailed design and construction documentation and site inspection.
