Apartments at Bastion Court, Connaught Street, Athlone
Located on an infill site on Connaught Street, Athlone, the project consists of mixed use development (13000m2), including 84 no Apartments, Retail Units, Medical Centre and a children's day-care facility.
The project includes retention of existing building facades together with new infill construction along the original street line. A new pedestrian street is formed to allow access to the remaining backland "brownfield" site. The apartment complex at the rear of the development comprised a four storey block over reinforced concrete flat slab transfer system over underground basement car park.
The apartments were constructed using insitu load-bearing cross walls supporting precast concrete wideslab floor system with insitu concrete topping. The underground car park was designed as a Grade 1 utility basement. The basement provided 120 car parking spaces.
