Kidbrooke Village, London

O’Connor Sutton Cronin are appointed by Berkeley Homes on the Regeneration of Kidbrooke Village. The overall masterplan involves the demolition of the existing residential tower blocks in Kidbrooke Village and the construction of 4,800 residential units on the existing 48.2 hectare Ferrier Estate.

The first phase of this development involved the construction of new access roads to the site and 111 residential units in the form of 68 houses and 48 apartments. The majority of the site was made of vacant land and is bounded by an existing primary school, a nursing home and Network Rail’s railway line.

The houses were of traditional masonry wall construction with suspended timber floors and trench fill foundations. The five storey apartment blocks with a semi-basement carpark and MEP Plantrooms were of RC frame construction with 250mm RC flat slabs supported on 200mm RC fin columns and CFA Piled Foundations.

O’Connor Sutton Cronin have recently been appointed to deliver the next phase of this development which consists of 1200 residential units and an energy centre. The buildings will vary from 8 to 10 stories in height with car-parking at ground level and suspended podium courtyards which shall provide amenity space. O’Connor Sutton Cronin are working with CZWG Architects and Planning is due to be submitted in June 2011.
