OCSC have an immediate requirement for a Civil Design Engineers in our Galway office. The position is office based with flexible working hours along with an attractive package.

The Role
The Civil Engineer will ensure works are constructed in accordance with the Employer’s Representative’s Requirements and that the Contractor carries out all obligations.
The roles for the Civil Engineer will vary due to experience and will initially be based on a range of sites in Dublin and throughout Ireland.
Accountabilities
The Civil Engineer – all levels of accountabilities shall be inclusive of the following (dependant on experience).
- Administration of all Civil related construction works on site.
- Civil works requirements and instructions from the Employers Representative (ER), Design Team, Client and Local Authority etc.
- Monitor, measure, inspect and report on works being carried out to the Employer’s Requirements.
- Assist the Employer’s Representative in Technical and Contractual matters.
- Prepare regular site progress reports in conjunction with other site Resident Staff regarding Quality and Programme.
- Monitor the Contractor’s works for compliance with the Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and related legislation.
- Review of Method Statements and Contractor’s Engineering works proposals to ensure compliance with the Works Requirements.
- Keep and maintain comprehensive records/diary of work in progress and report on same.
Experience
The Civil Engineer must comply with the following requirements.
- Minimum 3+ years relevant experience on site, supervising large infrastructure works.
- Have experience in Microdrainage software.
- Experience in assisting in administering contracts.
- Experience with UK and/or Ireland projects.
The Ideal Candidate
The Civil Engineer’s education, knowledge and experience should comply with the following.
- Must hold a civil engineering qualification up to Bachelor’s degree.
- Must have an understanding or good knowledge and awareness of H&S legislation and regulations.
- Have completed and hold current Safe Pass and other relevant Safety in Construction qualifications.
- Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a Team worker.
- Ability to define potential problem issues, collect data, establish, and report on facts, draw valid conclusions, and make recommendations.
- IT skills and familiarity with relevant computer applications.
- Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude.
