O’Connor Sutton Cronin was engaged to post design and tender to provide the Employer’s Representative role and team for the Grangegorman Development Agency through Construction and Handover (Stages IV and V) for the delivery of the award-winning Grangegorman Site Infrastructure & Public Realm project (SI&PR). The project won the Excellence in Construction Project Management 2015 Award ‘Alliance’ for cooperation and mutual respect in Construction Project Management.

  • OCSC provided a design review of all civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical Designs.
  • OCSC’s on-site team included a full review of all utility requirements for the future development of the entire campus and how best to provide the backbone infrastructure to serve the proposed phased development of the campus.
  • The Site Infrastructure and Public Realm (SIPR) project was a considerable undertaking covering the entire Grangegorman site and consisted of the laying of all roadworks, utility services, major earthworks, and development of the public realm – paths, roads, green areas, lighting, seating, bike parking, etc.
  • This project also delivered a new surface water pipe connection to Smithfield as required by Dublin City Council and all the new outdoor sports facilities.
  • The project also involved 10,000sq.m of hard landscaping, soft landscaping, provision of synthetic and natural playing pitches and tennis courts, and conservation and restoration works on existing masonry structures.
  • The SI&PR ground works for Grangegorman included internal circulatory access roads and pathways, earthworks (135,000m3 excavation & 80,000m3 disposal), and environmental measures including the disposal of contaminated material including the disposal of 20,000m3 of invasive weeds.
  • OCSC provided the PSDP Health and Safety coordinator who was responsible for providing a common approach across all sites in respect of the management of safety.
  • In our role as PSDP, we organised cooperation between design teams and contractors by initially identifying all relevant parties for each project, and checked for overlaps or gaps between the responsibilities of the parties for each project.  The project won the Excellence in Construction Project Management 2015 Award ‘Alliance’ for cooperation and mutual respect in Construction Project Management.
